It has become tricksy times at the shire.
In our quest to create heaven on earth, we have bit off more than we can chew. We are unable to take care of the garden since Lucy won't allow us to leave her side even for a moment of weeding and takes it upon herself to jump the fence and "weed" alongside us whenever we try to get work done in our increasingly weedy eden. The two year old won't spend more than ten minutes at a time outside because she isn't used to being manhandled by a puppy that is bigger than she is. I can't blame her, but when Lucy just wants to sit next to Ana, and Ana's reaction is to cry hysterically ... I mean suck it up kid.
And these things would be okay to deal with. It's really just a matter of time before everyone gets used to everyone. But in the mean time, my support man himself has started to crumble under the pressure. He can't get outside until 9:30 at night to do his chores because that's when Ana finally gives it up and falls asleep. It makes for a cranky spouse. Not good.
So, I am now seriously contemplating taking Ana's nap away. It's not hard to get her to nap, and she will nap for about an hour and a half. Except then she's up until 9:30. And that's just not cool anymore. Has anyone else tried this? Success? Failure?

On the RARE days that Gianna naps, she's up way later than we'd like. Without napping she's in bed (AND SLEEPING) between 7:00 and 7:30. Good luck and let us all know how taking her nap away goes. (I should warn you that, without a nap, it can be "ugly" around here in the late afternoon and early evening.)
Thanks for the input Char. I'm wondering now if we should just have Ana nap earlier in the day ... or have a quiet time ... ergo a slightly earlier bedtime. We've done no-nap days too. And yes, it is less than attractive.
We have the same problems, especially with the sun being up longer now, but I have found that the earlier nap helps. Sometimes a trip in the car in the morning after mass & running errands gives them a quick "power nap" so they get refreshed but not take a huge nap. By 7:00, they're pretty much spent and ready to crash until 6:00 the next morning (ug!) I myself can be a crabby spouse without some "uninterrupted" time as well. Hang in there!
