Rain Dance.

It's been a good two weeks since we've seen any rain more than a sprinkle. Wouldn't you know, the year we plant 60 trees would be a drought year.

Here is me and Ana admiring a bright rainbow to the east, showing off the rain that those in Redwood Falls were enjoying.

No matter. The garden is looking scrumptuous! This morning, I ate my first strawberry while harvesting the spinach. After our 100 degree day a few weeks ago, our spinach hasn't been doing as super. So, I'm snipping it all while it's at what I think will be it's peak for the year. I'll hopefully cook and freeze it all by the end of day. If all goes well, we'll have a small stock of ready to go spinach for me to snip away at and add to soups, omelettes, pasta dishes and the like.
Mmmmm, Spinach. Here is the harvest soaking off insects and dirt.

In other news, Dan is having his host of college friends over for the weekend. If I'm counting right, this is the 10th or 11th year of rural relaxation for this crowd of city boys. Luckily, I'm off the hook for cooking as Helen takes charge with her famous spagetti, sticky buns, and of course Buster Bar dessert. And it'll be nice for me to have 10 babysitters with nothing to do but eat and admire our beautiful children.

Have fun with the boys this weekend!!! Wish you and the kiddos were here. I think that the guys might have started this tradition while they were still in college (maybe?) so this could be as much as their 15th year since it's already 11 years since they graduated. Wow - does time fly or what?!?!?
