Oh, people people.

Thanks to my poopsie, Dan, for alerting me to this anomaly. I usually can't stand Nick Coleman, one of the columnists at the Star Tribune. Everytime he opens his mouth, I generally want to scream. And just for the record, so does Katherine Kersten, but to a lesser degree. Half the time she's okay, but other times she makes me, as a Catholic, want to walk around with a bag over my head. But I digress. Yesterday's column by Nick Coleman was right on. Especially with this statement: "This country is becoming too stupid to live." Check out the column here.

Round these here parts, we try our darnedest to get all of our Christmas shopping done before Advent begins so we can ignore the throngs of shoppers and focus on becoming more meditative while we wait for Christ's birth. I suspect many of you try to do something to slow down for the Christmas season. Comments are open for everyone to share their ways to become more Advent Interior.

And while you're thinking of your ways to become Interior, here's todays Old Testament reading. I love this one:
On that day,
A shoot shall sprout from the stump of Jesse,
and from his roots a bud shall blossom.
The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him:
a Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,
A Spirit of counsel and of strength,
a Spirit of knowledge and of fear of the LORD,
and his delight shall be the fear of the LORD.
Not by appearance shall he judge,
nor by hearsay shall he decide,
But he shall judge the poor with justice,
and decide aright for the land’s afflicted.
He shall strike the ruthless with the rod of his mouth,
and with the breath of his lips he shall slay the wicked.
Justice shall be the band around his waist,
and faithfulness a belt upon his hips.

Then the wolf shall be a guest of the lamb,
and the leopard shall lie down with the kid;
The calf and the young lion shall browse together,
with a little child to guide them.
The cow and the bear shall be neighbors,
together their young shall rest;
the lion shall eat hay like the ox.
The baby shall play by the cobra’s den,
and the child lay his hand on the adder’s lair.
There shall be no harm or ruin on all my holy mountain;
for the earth shall be filled with knowledge of the LORD,
as water covers the sea.

On that day,
The root of Jesse,
set up as a signal for the nations,
The Gentiles shall seek out,
for his dwelling shall be glorious.

-Isaiah 11:1-10

Dear Joy,
Chris Coleman's article was right on.(I usually don't like him either). The kids and I have started a Jesse Tree to work on during Advent. I like to hear what others are doing to prepare for Christ's birth too.

Oooo! The Jesse Tree! That's one that we will for sure be incorporating into our advent preparations around here soon as Ana stops swinging my scissors through the air screaming "I did it! I did it!" In other words, next year : )
