Yesterday, Dan and I drove to Minneapolis just for the day to take in some tasty lunch at Kramaracuk's, some shopping downtown, Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes, and topped off with a Christmas party with some old friends. It was a wonderful day, but somewhat anxious since we were ready to rush home at any moment if the dreaded ice and snowstorm were to hit.
Well, it held off until at least 2am, at which time we were sound asleep in our toasty bed back home at the shire. But we woke up to a howling blizzard and the thermometer at zero. Dan turned on the T.V. to see that Redwood Falls, only a half our east, was still at 35 degrees. The storm must have just overtook us! It was a little exciting.
So, with treacherous conditions still asailing outdoors, we are pretty much socked in for the day, Gaudate Sunday.
Gaudate means rejoice, and it's a kind of mark in the middle of Advent when we take a small break from waiting, and we rejoice knowing that the birth of Jesus is nearly upon us.
It's kind of a nice way to spend a socked in day!

Glad you made it home safely!
Glad you could enjoy a day around the house. Yesterday morning, it was still 35 degrees when we headed to church around 10:30AM (where the third Sunday of Advent is also 'Rejoice' Sunday :) Anyway....it was 10 degrees just a few hours later and 7 below zero this morning (without the wind). Mike drove me to work and the 20 minute drive took an hour........why do we all live in Minnesota?
Because it's sucks, that's why.
