Yesterday, we awoke to the shire blanketed in a thick frost. The temp was supposed to touch the freezing point providing the nice light frost that tasties up our carrots and parsnips still in the ground. But no, it hit a few degrees cooler, making it a hard freeze which froze about 70% of our winter squash. Those delicate and delicious gourds which were sitting unattended and naked under the night sky. So, I spent yesterday and a good part of today roasting and freezing them before they spoil.
Then, last night, after having cooked four cups of rice for our E-Team meeting (to go with Lila's awesome Lamb Stew), we promptly forgot it on the kitchen counter. Well, harvey darn.
Lucky for us, Ana and I were very much in the mood for Kai Pelo this morning, which took care of some of the rice. I believe the rest will go towards fried rice and perhaps rice porridge (which my dad declares is better than pizza!).
I will leave you with this picture of Ana with a mouthful of Kai Pelo.

And now I am going to roast my (hopefully) last batch of squash. All I can say is, it's a really good thing Ana loves squash as much as she does.

wow! that really is a mouthful! It looks like her cheeks are about to pop open from the sheer magnitude! And look at that full mouthed grimace!
