Election Day!

Well, happy Election Day to everyone! I hope everyone got out to vote, and by the sounds of it there were record numbers. That is great news.

My mom and I just listened to McCain's concession speech, which I thought was very nicely done. Very gracious, which is refreshing.

I must say, it is always inspiring to me to see so many people voting; even though we don't all agree on how things ought to be, we are still one community working together and participating in helping choose our leaders.

It's also funny to see old Caribou customers as political commentators on the news. Here's Brian Lambert on Fox News talking big words and with furrowed brow, and all I'm thinking is "That guy was (and probably still is) a coffee fiend."

In other news, it seems running after a toddler all day is heck on vericose veins.

Ick.

An aMAZing concession speech. I don't think it could have been better, and I am so proud to have McCain serve as a senator for our country. He is truly a good man. And, at the risk of being shunned by the rest of the family, I want to (diplomatically) say, (and with no give-away of whom I voted for,) that I hope and believe that the next term can be one of unity and change for the better, whether you voted McCain or Obama. (Or Nader.) I am still going to eat turkey with you on thanksgiving whether you like it or not. :) AND, I'll have you know that I turned away the socialists that came knocking on my door, trying to sell me a subscription to "The Militant."

a-HA! You DID give it away!
It's okay, you and Jodi can eat turkey together at the socialist table.

JUST KIDDING!

No worries, Mary & Jodi. Joy will be sitting with you at the socialist table. Not for her vote, but because she has a subscription to that bastion of hippie communal life, Mother Earth News.

Okay, full disclosure: I read it too.

I did not give it away. Or can you say with full assurance whom I voted for? And, Nader was running independent, not socialist. There's no way I would have voted for those socialist nutjobs, anyway. They were trying to tell me how great everything was in Cuba, and all I could think was, "those people are suffering along with all the other people in socialist countries!"
