Dan just completed his very last Institute for Pastoral Theology class weekend. It's been three years since he started, and yes, it seems like yesterday.
Dan truly enjoyed (enjoyed is a lame word for what he felt, but i can't think of a better one at the moment) the three years that he spent basking in the sun of his professors and the wisdom of the Church. He never took a moment for granted and knew full well that these three years were really a gift from God.
Now that he's finished, he looks forward to some free time (and so do I!). He will also miss the wondrous pleasure that he had learning all the philosophy, metaphysics, patristics, Scripture ... all that good stuff.
But we both look forward to seeing what God will have him, and us, do with it now.
So, remember to pray for your favorite theologians!
Congratulations Dan!

Thanks, Joy!
Yes I will miss being part of this graduate program. Second only to my family, it has been the most fulfilling part of my life these past few years.
I'd like to on record as saying there's no way I could have done this program, Joy, without your support, understanding, and willingness to take on extra responsibility around the house. It just wouldn't have happened.
Now, so as not to commit the sin of presumption, I must note that I may have finished my coursework, but I haven't gotten my final grades or my diploma yet.
I'd also like to note that, while I appreciate all the prayers I can get, I don't warrant the title "theologian". That title is specifically reserved for those with Pontifical Degrees (which are issued only from specific colleges licensed by the Vatican to grant those degrees), or in a less technical sense, for those with at least a Ph.D.
A ha!
I KNEW Dan would comment on the whole theologian bit. I KNEW IT!
But, isn't it way easier to say than "Pray for your favorite holders of master's degrees"?
Congratulations Dan!!
